Tram and Roosevelt Island

Image
It may not sound as exciting as Manhattan, however do take half a day or even a whole day, take the tram across the river and stroll around the Roosevelt Island in good tempo. It is a nice way to see something different, if you are not going too far away from Manhattan while there. There may not be much to see, however Roosevelt Island does have an interesting history, it has changed over the years to be a place to live at, as it is a quiet Island and yet close to Manhattan. I took the tram twice and was suprised by how smooth it felt (ok it was not windy, so that could be the reason) and how fast it still went to get to the Island. Once there I strolled first to the north side as I had seen there was an light house. Sadly when I was there, it was sealed off due to hurricane Sandy and work was still in progress to make it safely to walk around the light house. If it is open, do yourself a favor, pack a picnic, go there and see it from a different view..... As I had walked on the oppo...

High Line - New York, 2013

Image
This is the last part of the train tracks which provided New York with food, which is now preserved and called "The High Line". You should allow yourself time to walk this place, specially doing spring/summer time, I can imagine it must be beautiful right now.... also this is another way of walking in New York above the streets..... there is even plenty of seats around the line, where you can sit down for a moment if you want to... or go up there before it closes and see the evening light.... You can read more about the project to preserve these last track here:  http://www.thehighline.org/ Here a few photos of my own....

Early sunset spring with the swans....

Image
So after a day with waiting game on interview that was both cancelled and rejected, I went to the lake with my camera in the late afternoon. I was lucky to catch the swans there as there were clouds looming a bit higher up and the sun were lower behind them. I did get a few good photos and it reminded me why I like to take photos, especially after a day like today.... It's been awhile I posted, mostly due to the fact I'm editing on some photos which will put up for sale... so I may be a bit longer between the updates... I hope to be back sooner with more photos here on the blog :-) maybe next week or even this weekend... will see how it unfolds.... Though first the swan photos.... It is always something special about swans and sunsets.... It was the waiting worth for the swan to be in this light....   All of a sudden they just took flight and this was the only in full frame...

To go through the maps of photos.....

Image
So as I've decided to have some photos printed, it also gives me time to clear up a whole lot of space as well... After having gone through a lot today, I'm going to allow myself a break the rest of the evening... and ending it with one of my favorite photos. It was taken late afternoon and as I walked closer to the lake, there was these swans swimming around there. I have other photos where they stay nearby as the sun sets. It was one of those moments where you have patience to wait for the photo, the right settings and be quiet at the same time, in a area where some people (many) like to walk in the late afternoon. This is one of them, which I am going to have printet as well in 30cm x 45cm (Sorry I'm not too good at inches....)

December 13th photo of the day...... bbbrrrr

Image
So after staying indoor all day yesterday I really needed my walk outside today... now remember I told it was really cold yesterday like -15/-16 degrees (around 4-6 fahrenheit)?? it was a little bit "warmer" today, still just now have I got the warmth back in my body (I was outside around 3pm this afternoon... ) I made it to see the sun set... and walked quickly back home...   have a nice evening... :-) The sun is setting..... Footprints in the snow.....

December 11th with some sunshine :-)

Image
So today was a whole lot better than yesterday. The sun was out as I went to nearby city and found this bench all covered up in snow... so with that in mind, I'll spend my evening cozing up on my couch and enjoy an evening on the side of ups....  :-) The sun is peaking through... Snowcovered bench in the sunshine....

Brad Pitt..... Ups and downs.... December 10th.....

Image
sorry to have you stop by, by mentioning Brad Pitt...... still hope you will read todays blog....  So some know, some don't. I've been out of work almost a year now and just like you and a lot of other people, I can have up and downs days.... today it was, shall we call it half a down day... Now before you start thinking oh no... not another one... just bear with me for a moment... and with that instead of mention H... , the D.... , S...... (ok here I'm going a bit out of description .... again bear with me) instead lets use the fictional "Mr. Joe Black" from the movie "Meet Joe Black" who is played by Brad Pitt... (yes I happen to like movies.....) So when I have an day like today - half down day - I usually say "Mr Black" is stopping by... and really, sometimes it is ok to have an day like this. I am not even going to get started on the list of why, because I am pretty fairly sure you get the idea when I mentioned I was out of work......
